Fran Goucher received his formal education in the arts at both Essex College and The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Though self-taught in photography, Fran attributes his eye for photographic composition to his knowledge of shape, form and composition acquired in his 3d Design and Sculpture majors. Fran Has been enthusiastically involved in photography for 15 years and now resides in Wilmington, NC.

As an additional note of interest Fran attributes his unique approach to the arts to growing-up amidst a family of ten children. “In that type of environment you have no choice but to be somewhat nonconformist and independent in order to establish your identity”  

My passion is to create images that tell a unique visual story, a story that unconsciously compels ones eyes around the image as the story unfolds. Towards that purpose I am forever scrutinizing everyday scenes for unique compositions. My objective is to find compositions with color, mood and subject coming together in moments that might otherwise be overlooked by the casual observer.
